Five Spice Glazed Smoked Chops

Five Spice Glazed Smoked Chops

Ingredients :
1/4 cup unsweetened apple juice
1/4 cup grape jelly
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
1/2 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder
1/2 teaspoon minced fresh gingerroot
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1 tablespoon butter
4 smoked bone-in pork chops (7-1/2 ounces each)

How To Make :
Place the first 6 ingredients in a small saucepan; bring just to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, 10 minutes.
In a 12-in. skillet, heat butter over medium-high heat. Add pork chops; cook until bottoms are browned, 4-5 minutes. Turn chops; spoon glaze over top. Cook, uncovered, until chops are glazed and heated through, 3-4 minutes.

Test Kitchen tips :
Chinese five-spice powder is a seasoning that adds both warm and cool flavors to food. Blends vary, but it often contains star anise, Szechuan peppercorns, cloves, cinnamon or cassia bark, and fennel.

Many grocery stores carry only one type of smoked pork chop. If yours sells only boneless chops, feel free to use them in place of bone-in.
